Transitional Dressing

September is a weird month for getting dressed don’t you think?! One day its 25 degrees and sunny and the next its dark, raining and only reaches a high of 15 (tragic). Is its sweater weather? Can you still get away with wearing those kind of too short denim cut offs you’ve had for 4 years?! Well I’ve put together an outfit formula if you will to stay cool (or warm) all month long. Good denim + cute crop top + chunky knit = September sorted (how scientific of me!!).

A cardigan is a great transitional piece. You can either wear a thin buttoned up one tucked into jeans or get a huge chunky one and wrap yourself up in one. I love this one by Micha Lounge as it’s so soft and cuddly but isn’t ‘mum-sy’ (an ailment that can occur when wearing a cardigan).

Quality denim is another must have staple. A good pair of jeans is both flattering and chic, not to mention they’re super versatile. I finally got my hands on a pair of 501’s and they are the dream, comfy, flattering and a great wash. Top tip (from my best friend who’s worked in a denim boutique for years) go 2 sizes up in Levi’s. So whatever size you are in Topshop jeans go 2 sizes up – I did, and my pair fit like a dream.

Some more outfit ideas are pairing a cute summery jumpsuit with a chunky knit and boots (or if it’s hotter outside, some sleek sandals) or for a nice evening vibe, pair your denim with a ruffle-y one shoulder long sleeve top and simple black heels. It’s the perfect combo for that in-between-y weather!
