September always feels more like a new year to me than New Years Eve in my opinion. Probably because I have only just graduated from education and therefore ‘Back2school’ is still very much engrained into me but there’s something about the shift from Summer to Autumn which feels fresh and a reset. For me, September is bringing another big shift which is my move! Yes, I am flying the nest au revoiur! Ciao! (jk I’m literally moving maybe a 10/15 min drive away from my family home but whatever….I live in London, it’s a minor detail.) My best friend Lou, if you’ve been following my blog for a while now then you’ll be familiar with her face, and I are moving to a little flat and I have been in the process of redecorating for what feels like forever now! Anyway, it’s the final countdown if you will before move in time – in just over a week the majority of everything will be finished and that is very exciting for 2 reasons. 1) I’m excited to be living alone as a graduate and see how different it is to uni and 2) Now it’s time for all the smaller decor pieces to start being purchased and considered.
As you can see, these are some images I’ve been looking at for inspiration. The key thing when I was creating my mood-boards for the flat were not images I wanted to copy (after all, the structure of a house vs flat are very different), but a mood I wanted to create overall. I’m not trying to create carbon copies of other people’s interiors, just get a sense for the overall mood and vibe I would like my home to have.
To be honest, if I could, I would live in a Nancy Meyers movie. I have been obsessed with her since I saw Father of the Bride as a kid (my favourite film ever FYI) and will watch any film she’s had a part in….and re-watch them a thousand times. Whilst not all of them have dream worthy interiors (Baby Boom I’ll pass on the decor ty) many of them do and I find a lot of inspiration there! Also has anyone noticed the food in these movies are insane I mean lavender ice cream….roast chickens everywhere, Chinese food in those aesthetically pleasing little cartons, I can go on…but I won’t just to save some time.
Now that we’ve covered some inspirational hot spots, here are the decor items I’m loving for my home – & don’t forget to follow me on Pinterest for all things interior inspo!
