Hiya, Ok so today I want to talk about something which I have been obsessed with recently (more specifically, the last week because I got this as a birthday gift) which is essential oils! I’ve been looking into essential oils and what they are what they do etc… for a while now and somehow my Mother read my mind and bought me an aroma diffuser for my birthday!
So what are essential oils?
Well, the technical definition of an essential oil is; “a natural oil typically obtained by distillation and having the characteristic odour of the plant or other source from which it is extracted.” but in other words, they are the oil derived from various plants and can deliver specific benefits from these plants to the body and mind that we would otherwise not have access to.
How can you use them?
So I’m just getting into the use of oils except for lavender which I’ve carried around with me for a while in rollerball form as it helps with sleep and anxiety! Currently, I am only using them through my diffuser which essentially takes the oil and uses water to diffuse it into the surrounding air meaning that you breath it in constantly and the benefits are delivered it that way. However, there are many other ways to absorb essential oils such as adding them to drinks and foods, rolling them on your wrists and ankles, putting a few drops in your bath or steaming with them!
What are some of the benefits?
So there are benefits to each oil and there are LOADS but I’ve picked out some of my favourites to start ya off!
Tea Tree: Helps fight acne, congestion, dry skin & psoriasis
Grapefruit: Cleanses the body, curbs sugar cravings, reduces depression & strengthens immunity
Lemon: Calming, helps detoxify the body, sleep inducing & relieves nausea
Lavender: Sleep inducing, enhances blood circulation & eliminates anxiety
Patchouli: Boosts your immune system, balances hormones & reduces inflammation
So you see different oils have different uses and there’s really no downside to giving them a go! As I mentioned earlier you can buy rollerball versions which you can carry around with you and just roll on whenever.
If you have any more questions about essential oils just comment below and I’ll try to answer as best I can!
