Velvet & Satin

Hiya, so today’s post is all about my favourite textures of the moment. I love textural dressing, I am one of those people who walks through stores stroking clothes. The feel and the surface of clothes is what really draws me to different pieces – for a while now I’ve been slipping into a bit of a love affair with two of the biggest textures of A/W 2016; velvet and satin. The slip trend was everywhere last fashion week but now the idea of pyjama dressing/slips/comfy but luxe feeling textures has blown up & so I thought what better way to write a love letter to these textural pieces than to do a blog post on it!

Velvet in particular always looks expensive and luxe, no matter the price point – it also lasts aaaaaaages. You can’t go wrong with a simple velvet piece.

You can also find some really good satin pieces of a fairly inexpensive price. The best way to make it look chic is MAKE SURE ITS IRONED. If it isn’t ironed it looks like an inexpensive fabric from poor quality.

My favourite shade for both materials is a dusty baby pink but navy blue, brown and red are also fab colours for both these textures. Add either with a bit of denim and you have a beautiful look.
